Born and brought up in Coimbatore.. When I heard the name Haven Sampoorna.. it was sounding like an usual south indian restos that we have been going for years. But when I heard from my cousin that is not an usual place.. then I gave a try few months back.
Yesterday this was our first choice in velachery when it comes to pure veg restarunt.
The ambience is cool and simple. I like the posters struck
on the wall not much related to food. One that was catchy is the God father.
The place is not much crowded, so I don’t think we need
reservations. It is large enough to accommodate many people.
The menu is such wide with lot of options. When I was
confused what to have, there the server gave me the thali menu. Wow, this is
what I had in mind. We ordered for
maharaja thali and Diet thali.
Service was fast and good.
Diet Thali : Salad was jus few slices of cucumber and carrots.
They could make it bit more interesting. Rotis are very soft, not a drop of Oil.
In contrast the subzis were very rich and oily. You should forget the diet
point here. Dal was normal. Coming to Pulav, first ever seeing tutti fruity in
pulav, tasted good. They provided channa
sundal and pongal – Ganesh chathurthi special. Overall Diet thali is very
filling, good taste and pocket friendly.
Maharaja thali : They gave the Jaljeera, soup and the
starter of the Maharaja thali in no time. Jaljeera is nothing but the diluted
version of pani poori water. Soup was
regular tomato soup, but very tasty. Right amount of spices and my daughter
even liked it. Starter was more like cutlet was just awesome. Soft, juicy and
not oily. The Green chutney dip was apt.
I am not sure whether it is cutlet, it could a kebab also. Lacha paratha, Missi
Roti, Stuffed kulcha were all very nice
and flavorful. Curries were similar to Diet thali but the portions were
generous. Kofta curry was delicious and rich. You can either opt for an ice
cream or Sweet. We went for an ice cream which is regular vanilla topped with
tutti fruity again.
For our little one, we ordered garlic bread, which was good.
But could be little softer. It was more like a rusk. They have kids meal too,
which luks very cute. Breads cut in star
shape, strawberry milk shake and ghee rice. Very cutely plated. We dint order
this though.
The highlight is the Paan ice cream. I imagined this will
come in green color like a pista ice cream.
Rather it was plain ice cream with finely chopped Paan mixed in that.
This is the must item in this resto.
They have cute signs in the menu for marking specialties. Below
is the one.
Ambience : 4/5
Service : 5/5
Food taste : 4/5
Value for money : 4/5
Must try : Maharaja
Thali, Kids Meal, Paan ice cream.
